Liverpool have finalized a loan deal for 21-year-old defender James Norris, sending him to League of Ireland side Shelbourne for the remainder of the season. The left-back has made just two senior appearances for the Reds but has featured 10 times in Premier League 2 this campaign.
Norris will now join up with Shelbourne manager and former Chelsea and Newcastle winger Damien Duff in Ireland.
The two-time Premier League winner took over as Shelbourne manager in November 2021 following assistant coaching roles at Celtic and the Republic of Ireland.
Norris, who joined Liverpool at the under-9 level, progressed through the club’s academy before signing his first professional contract in 2020.
He made his senior debut for the Reds in December 2019 as a late substitute during a Carabao Cup match against Aston Villa. Liverpool were forced to field an academy squad for the game, as Jurgen Klopp and the first team were in Qatar for the Club World Cup.
